Dow Wins Many Honors in China

For the first time in Dow's history in China, we have won four corporate citizenship/corporate reputation awards. Dow was also named in the list of Top 10 Plastics Suppliers in China for 2007.

2007 Best Corporate Citizenship Award

Now in its fourth year, this award is organized by the 21st Century Business Herald and 21st Century Business Review, two of China's most influential media. Focused on "Balance and Sustainability," the program evaluated several hundred applicants' capabilities in six key areas: shareholders, employees, customers, partners, environment and resources, and society. Beating more than 300 entrants, Dow and 29 other corporations received the award in Beijing in December 2007.

Global Times' Most Regarded Enterprise by Readers Award

With a circulation of 1.8 million, Global Times is one of the most popular newspapers in China. This award was based on surveys of a random sample of its readers who expressed opinions on enterprises that they regard highly.

The Best Global Companies Performing Corporate Social Responsibility in China Award

Literally translated as "the multinational company with the most caring Chinese heart," this award was jointly sponsored by Foreign Investment in China, a publication of the Ministry of Commerce of China, the International Trade and Economic Cooperation Research Institute of the Ministry of Commerce, as well as the Chinese Charity Association. Entrants went through a rigorous judging process by a selection committee and an online voting opportunity for people in China. Dow and 22 other multinational corporations were recognized as winners.

China's Top Employer Award

This program is organized by the Corporate Research Foundation International in collaboration with China's leading media including China Daily, Economic Observer, ChinaHR.com, Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business and the Hay Group. The awards recognize uniqueness and originality in the whole spectrum of human resources management. Nineteen out of 300 companies, including Dow, in Beijing, were short-listed after nine months of investigation and evaluation by organizers.

Top 10 Plastics Suppliers in China for 2007

A three-month online poll at plastics industry website, www.HC360.com, polled users about producers from various market segments, including home appliances, automotive, building materials and toys. Over two million votes were received online, more than 300,000 votes came in via cell phone and 150,000 web postings were created. Dow, a first-time event winner, received the most votes. The award ceremony, held during the China Plastics Industry Development Summit was organized by HC360.com and co-sponsored by the China Plastics Machinery Industry Association and the China Engineering Plastics Industry Association.
